The Tourism Information Management System (TIMS) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Conformance Status

This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.

Measures Taken

To ensure accessibility, we have implemented the following measures:

• Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy for screen reader navigation.
• Keyboard navigation support — all interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard.
• Descriptive alt text on all informative images.
• Sufficient colour contrast ratios between text and background elements (navy #173A5E, ochre #C8871A, and white).
• Responsive design that adapts to various screen sizes, including mobile devices and tablets.
• Accessible forms with labelled inputs and error identification.
• ARIA landmarks and roles where appropriate to enhance screen reader compatibility.
• Skip-to-content navigation for keyboard users.

Technical Specifications

Accessibility of the TIMS platform relies on the following technologies:

• HTML5 for semantic structure
• CSS3 for presentation and responsive design
• JavaScript for interactive components (charts, tabbed navigation, search)
• WordPress CMS for content management

These technologies are relied upon for conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may not fully conform to accessibility standards. Known limitations include:

• Some third-party embedded content (e.g., Superset BI dashboards) may have its own accessibility constraints beyond our control.
• Interactive data visualisation charts (ECharts) may not be fully navigable via screen readers.
• Some older PDF documents linked from the Downloads page may not be tagged for accessibility.

We are actively working to address these limitations and welcome user feedback to help us improve.

Future Improvements

We are committed to ongoing improvement of accessibility. Future plans include:

• Adding screen reader support for chart data summaries.
• Improving keyboard navigation for the dashboard tab interface.
• Providing downloadable data in accessible formats (CSV, plain text) alongside visualisations.
• Conducting a full WCAG 2.1 AA audit with an external accessibility consultant.
