How the Tourism Information Management System (TIMS) collects, uses and protects your personal information.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use the personally identifiable information you provide on the TIMS web portal (tims.tourism.go.ug). "Personally Identifying Information" individually identifies you, such as your name, telephone, email address, and comments, among others.
tims.tourism.go.ug collects a limited amount of non-personal information that your browser makes available whenever you visit the site. This includes your IP address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your visits, and cookies that may identify your browser. We use this information for our internal use only.
When you visit the TIMS web portal, a cookie may be sent to your browser that uniquely identifies your session. A "cookie" is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a web portal. We use cookies to improve the quality of our services and to better understand how people interact with us. We do this by storing user preferences in cookies and by tracking user trends and patterns. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies.
The TIMS Data Capture portal (tims-data.tims.tourism.go.ug) requires authenticated access. User accounts are created by the Ministry's ICT Officer or a workspace manager. Personal information collected includes name, email address, organisational affiliation, and role assignment. This information is used solely for the purpose of managing data submission workflows and is not shared with third parties.
This portal may contain links to other websites, which may belong to third-party companies and organisations. You should check the privacy statements of those websites before providing information to them.
The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) reserves the right to change this privacy policy from time to time. We expect most changes to be minor, but there may be changes that are more significant. Regardless, we will post those changes on this page.
